Obit: Senior journalist Jehangir Pocha is no more

Jehangir Pocha, senior journalist and Editor-in-Chief, NewsX channel passed away in Gurgaon on Saturday (July 12, 2014) due to cardiac arrest.

Pocha’s demise comes a shock to the entire news media fraternity as he had been active on social media till July 11. In fact, he had tweeted actively on the Union Budget 2014, which was presented on July 10.

He was co-founder of IndiMedia, which owns NewsX. Prior to that, he was Editor, Businessworld. He had worked as Beijing-based Asia correspondent with The Boston Globe from 2003-07. He was also a contributing editor to The WorldPost. He was also a part of the IT industry for almost a decade, holding management positions with start-ups and Fortune 500 companies in the US and Singapore.

Condoling Pocha’s demise, the Broadcast Editors’ Association called it a “big loss to the world of TV journalism”.
