NewsX launches new show, Legally Speaking

NewsX has launched Legally Speaking, a show in which the nation’s top lawyers, judges, law makers, regulators, bureaucrats and industrialists brainstorm on some of the most complex constitutional and legal questions facing us today.

For the first time in the history of news media since independence, a sitting Supreme CourtJudge has given an interview on the show. NewsX is the first channel in Indian TV history to get the interview of sitting Supreme Court Judge Arjan Kumar Sikri.

The country has more than three crore pending cases in lower courts, 40 lakh in high courts and over 60,000 in Supreme Courts. For programmes like ‘Make in India’ to succeed, commercial court cases and disputes have to be solved as fast as possible, and as India grows at over 7 per cent, a lot of commercial disputes will arise. India can grow fast only if the courts can resolve these disputes faster.

Justice Sikri tells NewsX how “commercial disputes can be solved faster to push ease of doing business and make in India”.Recently, Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad had also appealed that courts should solve cases faster if ‘Make in India’ has to succeed.

The show will be aired in two parts; the first part will be aired on July 1, Saturday at 10.30 pm and July 2, Sunday at 12.30 pm.The second part will be aired on July 8, Saturday at 10.30 pm and July 9, Sunday at 12.30 pm.
