New Generation Media appoints Group CEO

Puthiya Thalamurai, a news channel of New Generation Media, has appointed RBU Shyam Kumar as its new CEO.

Shyam Kumar was earlier the Director – Operations, handling marketing, HR, presentation and traffic, research, and magazine circulation for the Group. He has been one of the key players in elevating the channel to a top position within a short span of its launch.

Talking about his new responsibility, Kumar stated, “The faith that Sathya (Dr RP Sathyanarayanan, President, New Generation Media Corporation) has cast in me is awe-inspiring and it is this which propels me to carry forward the far-sighted vision and mission of our organisation. I’m assessing various possibilities from all dimensions to position ours as a global brand without compromising on the core values that we have been hitherto upholding.”

Kumar has 23 years of experience in sales and marketing. He began his career with Eureka Forbes in 1989. Thereafter, he moved to BPL in 1991 as Direct Marketing In-charge at the Utilities and Appliances division.

He joined The Times of India Group as Chennai City Sales Head in 1995 and was with the company for 14 years. He moved to New Generation Media in 2009 as the Vice President to take care of the magazine operations.

Kranti Gada joined the family business at Shemaroo in 2006 after a successful stint of over two years in marketing at Pepsi Co. She has been associated with the company for 12 years.
