Neo Sports Plus inks two-year broadcasting rights deal with PGA Tour

Neo Sports Plus, the all sports channel from Neo Sports Broadcast Pvt. Ltd, has announced an agreement with PGA Tour for broadcasting the US leg of the PGA Tour in the Indian Sub-continent for 2008 and 2009. The live telecast of the PGA Tour on Neo Sports Plus commenced on January 24, 2008 with the Buick Invitational.

This season of the PGA Tour will have stalwarts like Tiger Woods, Daniel Chopra, Phil Mickelson and Vijay Singh among others. The PGA Tour season is segregated into two parts – FedEx Cup, which includes the PGA tour regular season, and the PGA Tour Playoffs for the FedExCup followed by the PGA Tour Fall Series.

The PGA Tour Playoffs consist of the Barclays, Deutsche Bank Championship, and the BMW Championship, and is the final push to the FedExCup title, which culminates in the Tour Championship presented by Coca-Cola.

Commenting on the deal, Prasana Krishnan, Executive Vice-President, Strategy & Business Development, Neo Sports Plus, said, “The PGA Tour is the premier golf event in the world. We are truly excited to work with the PGA Tour to bring coverage of this exclusive event to millions of golf fans back home.”

Tim Leisure, Senior Vice-President, International Television, the PGA Tour, said, “The PGA Tour are extremely pleased to welcome Neo Sports Plus as a broadcast partner and to deliver the best golf in the world to the Indian Sub-continent and to Indian fans of the sport. We are truly impressed by the promotional reach of their flagship channel and look forward to a long and fruitful relationship with them in this key market.”

In addition to winning the broadcast rights, Neo Sports Plus will present two shows every week produced by the PGA – ‘PGA Tour Highlights’, a show which focuses on the highlights of the previous week’s PGA action, and ‘Inside PGA’, which is a peek into the PGA events of the week ahead.
