Neo Sports Broadcast introduces Neo Cricket channel

Neo Sports Broadcast is introducing Neo Cricket channel from April 10, 2008. The company will now own and operate two 24x7 sports channels – Neo Cricket and Neo Sports. While Neo Cricket will be dedicated to cricket events and programmes, Neo Sports will showcase all sports, including cricket, football, tennis, golf, motorsport, badminton, and beach volleyball, among others.

Mautik Tolia, Creative Director & Head of Programming, Neo, said, “Over the past few months we conducted intensive consumer research, which led us to conclude that the viewer is now ready to consume cricket in a whole new way, going beyond just live cricket into the realm of what we call ‘Cricketainment’ – a blend of cricket and entertainment. That is exactly what Neo Cricket will deliver.”

Harish Thawani, Chairman, Neo, said, “I believe we are making a game changing move in sports broadcasting and have begun to redefine the way sports in general and cricket in particular will be consumed with our thrust towards Cricketainment.”

Neo Cricket has the broadcast rights for all international and domestic cricket played in India. It also has broadcast rights for international cricket played in Bangladesh and Kenya as well as BCCI’s offshore cricket series. In 2008, Neo Cricket will broadcast a minimum of six international cricket series, including four featuring India, adding up to nearly 200 days of live cricket.

In addition, Neo Cricket will air as many as 10 Cricketainment shows, four of which are daily shows such as ‘Dial C for Cricket’, ‘Sportszone’, ‘Encounter’, etc.
