NDTV Profit gears up for 2nd NDTV Profit Business Leadership Awards

NDTV Profit has announced the second NDTV Profit Business Leadership Awards to be held this year in Delhi on July 27. These awards not only honour business organisations that have shown exceptional ability in business performance but are also a recognition of the business houses which have fuelled the Indian economy to currently being among the fastest growing economies in the world.

The Award ceremony will have the crème de la crème of corporate India attending it, while Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram would be the chief guest.

Commenting on the Awards, Raj Nayak, CEO, NDTV Media, said, “Within the last one year, the NDTV Profit Business Leadership Awards have emerged as a credible and distinguished platform for recognising entrepreneurial and business excellence. These Awards support NDTV Profit's tribute to the Indian economy. They are added testimony to NDTV Profit's unwavering commitment and vision towards business excellence.”

NDTV Profit Business Leadership Awards is different from other business awards because of its stringent six-stage nomination and selection process. As a first stage, the NDTV Profit content team along with the business process advisor for these awards – Grant Thornton – decide on a wide range of 20 verticals. The basis of deciding on the verticals is to include a sufficient representation of high growth industries forming a significant part of India's GDP.

The second stage involves the development of nomination parameters created by conducting detailed research based on one financial or non-financial parameter. The shortlisted nominees are then ranked according to the pre-decided parameters. Following this, a questionnaire is rolled out in order to validate and get additional information. The top 5-6 companies are then reviewed. A detailed collation of the data available for these companies is then developed for evaluation by the jury. The final stage is when the awardees are decided upon by a renowned jury comprising well-known names in the Indian economy and business.

The jury for the NDTV Profit Business Leadership Awards this year comprise leading names from the industry and the business world, including Dr Amit Mitra, on the Board of Directors of SAIL, on the Board of GAIL; Anu Aga, Director on Thermax's Board of Directors; NR Narayana Murthy, Chairman Emeritus, Infosys; Suman Dubey, chief representative in India for Dow Jones & Co; Kiran Karnik, President, Nasscom; Dr Vijay Kelkar, Chairman of IDFC Private Equity Company Ltd; India Development Foundation, a major ‘Think Tank’; Citibank's Indian Advisory Council; and NDTV Chairman, Dr Prannoy Roy.

Last year, eminent business personas like Mukesh Ambani of Reliance Industries Ltd, Ratan Tata of the Tata Group, and Nandan Nilekani of Infosys had won the Global Indian of the Year Award, Business Leader of the Year Award, and Inspiring India Viewers' Choice Award, respectively.
