Explaining the rationale behind the new website, Raj Nayak, CEO, NDTV Media, said, “This is a best kept secret, NDTV.com is an extremely popular site both within and outside the country. In fact, we have the largest subscriber base for streaming of live news. We have a huge traffic on this site, so launching dedicated verticals is just an extension of the portal.”
Nayak added, “NDTV Media team has a relationship with over 600 advertisers and 1,500 brands, and we plan to optimise our relationship. The new website will be another revenue stream for the company.”
The road for NDTV to launch dedicated website doesn’t end with NDTV Shopping. There are more such websites planned in the next three months, the details of which will be divulged in due course of time.
In fact, NDTV over a period of time intends to make these verticals a formidable revenue stream for the company and to drive this goal, there is a dedicated team working on this project.
NDTV Shopping, which was officially launched on October 21, will be popularised by promoting it on the all the three channels of NDTV and their existing websites.
