NDTV 24×7 goes to South Africa

MultiChoice Africa (MCA), a subsidiary of the MIH Group, an international player in entertainment, technology and e-commerce services, has added 24-hour news channel NDTV 24×7, to its current Indian offerings on the DStv platform.

MultiChoice will now carry both North and South Indian content. NDTV 24×7 will join the North Indian bouquet currently comprising Sony, B4U and Zee TV channels. The new South Indian bouquet too will include NDTV 24×7 amongst other channels.

Linda Vermaa, General Manager-Content, said that after two years of intense research and negotiation, they have been successful in securing channels that would meet the rich cultural and linguistic needs of South Africa’s Indian population. “The addition of NDTV 24×7 to the North and South Indian offerings will further enhance the value of the network. The North and South Indian bouquets will be marketed under the banner of DStv Indian,” she said.

Sameer Manchanda, Director, NDTV, says the needs of a large Indian population in Africa are being effectively catered by MCA. The availability of NDTV to African consumers will further strengthen the strong bond that the community shares with India.

MCA is a multi-channel pay television platform with channels from Africa, Europe, Asia and the USA. It provides premium television entertainment to more than one million digital subscribers in over 50 countries on the African continent and adjacent Indian Ocean islands through its DStv platform. Its other operations include world-class subscriber management services and the management of a digital satellite television platform broadcasting over 50 video and 56 audio channels 24 hours a day.
