NBA condemns the attack on media crew in Chennai covering Stalin's resignation

The News Broadcasters Association (NBA) has condemned the attack on journalists and cameramen belonging to Headlines Today and Times Now channels in Chennai when they were covering the news of Mr Stalin's resignation from his party post. The attack, by individuals allegedly belonging to the DMK cadre was so brutal and severe that one cameraperson is admitted to hospital with serious injuries. Cameras and equipment belonging to these channels have been damaged.

Condemning the incident, K V L Narayan Rao, President, NBA called it, “a cowardly attack meant to intimidate journalists carrying out their work in disseminating news and information, a service that is essential for any democratic society.”

NBA President urged the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu to ensure that journalists are allowed to perform their duties in a free and fearless manner. He hoped that the state administration would take urgent action to book the culprit(s) and take exemplary action against them under the law in order to ensure that such incidents are not repeated.
