N Dilip Venkatraman, CEO, CNN-IBN, was adjudged the News Television CEO of the Year at the fourth edition of the e4m News Broadcasting Awards, held in New Delhi on August 27, 2011. The choice wasn’t a too difficult one as Venkatraman has notched up several notable achievements in this journey to being the News Television CEO of the Year.
The coveted Award is given to a news television head who has demonstrated vision, outstanding business performance and leadership – and Venkatraman fits the bill perfectly. As CEO of CNN-IBN, he is responsible for the strategic, financial and operational management of the company.
Venkatraman has over 19 years’ of corporate experience, of which three years were in the US. Prior to joining IBN18 Broadcast, he had held key positions at India Today and the Zee Network. The CNN-IBN Indian of the Year, Real Heroes, IBN7 Diamond States Awards, Citizen Journalist Awards and IBN7 Super Idols are some of the awards conceived by him.
He has been chosen for this Award by the Jury for leading CNN-IBN with the exemplary vision of it becoming a profitable business, which achieves leadership and profitability within an ethical framework, while unlocking values for shareholders and at the same time engaging and informing viewers through unbiased reporting and relentless journalism.
Receiving the Award from Aroon Purie, recipient of this year’s Lifetime Achievement of the Year Award, Venkatraman said in his acceptance speech, “Thanks a lot to exchange4media, I thank the Jury. I’d like to thank Sai, my boss, and the great team at Network18. Again, this is a great team effort thing, so thanks a lot all of you at Network18. And last but not the least, my family, my wife and son. Thank you for being there.”
He further said, “I am also very privileged to get this Award from Mr Purie, because I moved to Delhi as I had got a job with India Today Group Online and I am very thrilled to get it from Mr Purie.”
