Monsoon Wedding: HC refuses to pass injunction against Cable operators

After hearing the case filed by Mirabai Films, producer of Monsoon Wedding, the Delhi High Court refused to pass an injunction barring cable TV operators from screening the film.

Justice Mukundakam Sharma held that the cable TV operators - Hathway Cable and Datacom Pvt Ltd, Indusin Media Communications, 7 Star Satellite Network and Siti Cable Network - have their own goodwill and reputation and that an injunction against them, basing on wild allegations, cannot be granted.

The Mirabai Films had submitted that the producer has the exclusive right to make a copy of the film. It has also alleged that new films are shown unscrupulously by the defendants without any authority and most of the time pirated copies are shown.
