MH1 to launch Hindi news channel in first week of May

MH1 is gearing up to launch a 24-hour Hindi news and current affairs channel. MH1 News, as the channel has been named, is slated for launch in the first week of May. MH1 currently has a Punjabi music channel, as well as a devotional channel called Shraddha. With the addition of another channel to its fold, it is certainly going to expand its base.

MH1 has Mahendra Bathla as its Managing Director. The idea to launch a news channel stemmed from the fact that MH1 saw a gap in the market and wanted to fill the same.

MH1 News intends to be different from the other channels by way of its programming, though much details on the same could not be ascertained. The channel would also lay stress on interactive elements, whereby attempts would be made on having direct interaction with the viewers.

MH1 News will have ‘Saaf Baat, Seedhi Baat’ as its punch line. The channel has Amrendra Singh as its Senior Editor, while RP Singh is going to be the Chief Operating Officer.

As far as the promotional mix of the channel is concerned, communications regarding the new channel has already started on MH1’s music channel, as well as on the devotional channel. However, other activities like print campaigns and outdoor activities would commence after the channel’s formal launch.
