Star Pravah, the new Marathi general entertainment channel from Star India, is all set to go on air on November 24. Along with its driver show ‘Raja Shivchatrapati’, Star Pravah has lined up eight original shows in its prime time band throughout the week.
JC Giri, Executive Vice-President and General Manager - Regional Channels, Star Entertainment Media, said, “Pravah means flow in Marathi. The channel reflects the cultural pride of the people of Maharashtra and echoes the aspirations of each generation. Our programming line-up has been crafted meticulously with deep insights and understanding of the nuances of Marathi culture in a way that every show touches a chord in the viewers.”
Commenting on the programme line-up, Atul Ketkar, Senior Creative Director, Content & Communication, Star India, said, “Initially we are not gunning for ratings, but would definitely like to create our own audiences. Every quarter we will be revamping our content and will try to introduce some more to the content accordingly.”
Star Pravah has partnered with leading production houses for different shows. The production partners include CPPL for ‘Raja Shivchatrapati’, Indian Magic Eye Pvt Ltd for ‘Agnihotra’, Asmita Chitra for ‘Ghoshta Eka Lagnachi’, Siddhivinay Cinevision for ‘J 3 Junction’, Rahul Productions for ‘Kulaswamini’, Impact Vision for ‘Ase Ka Ghadle’, Cams Club for ‘Kukuchku’, BAG Films for ‘Star Darbar’, and Seventhsense Media for ‘Jyvalaga’.
Speaking on the marketing plan, Prem Kamath, VP - Marketing, Star India, said, “The marketing of the shows would be kicked off from November 7, starting with our driver shows ‘Raja Shivchatrapati’ and ‘Agnihotra’, followed by the rest accordingly.”
According to an official statement, the USP of the channel would be realism, depicted through multi-genre original content that is contemporary, progressive and reflects the life of the people of Maharashtra.
