Maharashtra & Andhra Pradesh GECs gain ground

In week 48 (November 23 – 29, 2014) ratings of regional channels except for channels in Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh have declined.

According to data sourced from TAM subscribers week 48 ratings CS4+, Bihar & Jharkhand channels saw Big Magic Ganga dip in its ratings from 940 GVTs in week 47 (November 16 – 22, 2014) to 902 GVTs in week 48, but still retained its leadership position in the region.  Mahuaa increased on the other hand to 892 GVTs in week 48 from 849 GVTs in week 47. Mahuaa Plus saw a steep drop in its ratings and almost decline to half of what it was in the last week. The channel declined to 454 GVTs in week 48 from 830 GVTs in week 47. Anjan too saw its ratings fall as it declined to 356 GVTs this week from 521 GVTs in week 47. Dabangg UP UTKD Bihar saw an increase in its ratings to 298 GVTs in week 48 from 248 GVTs in week 47.

In All Maharashtra market, Zee Marathi saw an increase in its ratings this week to 151,328 GVTs from 149,664 GVTs last week. ETV Marathi also saw its ratings marginally increase to 53,571 GVTs in week 48 from 53,181 GVTs in week 47. Star Pravah saw its ratings grow to 52,723 GVTs this week from 49,033 GVTs in week 48. Mi Marathi was the only one to see a dip in the ratings as it declined to 12,080 GVTs from 13,029 GVTs in week 47.

In the West Bengal market, Star Jalsha saw its ratings rise to 112,002 GVTs in week 48 from 107,748 GVTs in week 47. Zee Bangla on the other hand declined steeply to 91,652 GVTs in week 48 from 105,354 GVTs in week 47. ETV Bangla too declined from 23,445 GVTs in week 47 to 22,654 GVTs in week 48. Aakaash declined in its ratings to 13,847 GVTs in week 48 from 14,049 GVTs in week 47. Rupashi Bangla took a significant decline to 1811 GVTs in week 48 from 2300 GVTs in week 47.

In the Tamil GECs, Sun TV declined from 239,206 GVTs in week 47 from 234,573 GVTs in week 48. Vijay has seen its ratings take a dip to 68,954 GVTs in week 48 from 67,370 GVTs in week 47. Kalaignar TV too declined to 20,696 GVTs in week 48 from 22,478 GVTs in week 47. Polimer too saw its ratings decline marginally to 20,265 GVTs this week from 21,888 GVTs in week 47. Raj TV saw its ratings take a big tumble as it declined to 18,400 GVTs in week 48 from 21,435 GVTs in week 47. Zee Tamil declined in its ratings to 17,975 GVTs in week 48 from 19,636 GVTs in week 47. Jaya TV declined to 14,646 GVTs in week 48 from 16,121 GVTs in week 47.

Among the Kannada GECs, Udaya saw its ratings decline marginally to 70,048 GVTs in week 48 from 72,409 GVTs in week 47. ETV Kannada saw declined to 51,555 GVTs in week 48 from 54,399 GVTs in week 47. Suvarna on the other hand was the only channel among the Kannada GECs to see an increase as it rose to 43,846 GVTs in week 48 from 40,362 GVTs in week 47. Zee Kannada declined to 32,073 GVTs in week 48 from 34,901 GVTs in week 47. Kasturi took a steep decline to 6306 GVTs in week 48 from 8236 GVTs in week 47.

In the Andhra Pradesh market, MAA saw its ratings rise to 113,552 GVTs in week 48 from 106,426 GVTs in week 47. Zee Telugu increased to 99,005 GVTs in week 48 from 98,195 GVTs in week 47. Gemini saw an increase to 87,783 GVTs in week 48 from 86,601 GVTs in week 47. ETV on the other hand declined to 85,883 GVTs in week 48 from 86,296 GVTs in week 47.

In the Kerala market, while few Malayalam GECs saw an increase, there were others that declined. Asianet declined marginally to 54,740 GVTs this week from 55,706 GVTs last week. Surya increased this week to 15,427 GVTs from 14,159 GVTs a week earlier. Asianet Plus declined to 4745 GVTs in week 48 from 5594 GVTs in week 47. Kairali increased this week to 4166 GVTs from 3419 GVTs last week. Amrita declined to 2095 GVTs in week 48 from 2493 GVTs in week 47.
