Lakshmi Goel to take charge of Zee News

With Zee News, not doing so well in the television ratings game, Lakshmi Goel, the younger brother of the Zee group chairman has been brought in to take charge of the channel. An official announcement on his appointment is still awaited

While it is not clear whether Goel will work as the operational head or take over as the editor-in-chief of the channel, according company sources he’s already hand-on and holds daily meetings with the Zee News staff.

Initially involved with the commodities export business of the Essel Group, Goel was later shifted to the real estate business as chairman. He has been responsible for developing the Essel Towers township close to Delhi, the Sun City project and the E-City venture that promotes the Fun Republic brand.

For Goel the challenge will, perhaps, be to bring back the audiences Zee News has lost to rival Aaj Tak.
