KKR Vs RCB brings in 26 million impressions in week 4 of IPL: BARC

In the fourth week of the Indian Premier League (IPL) Season 10, the match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore on April 23 (Sunday) fetched maximum ratings of 26 million impressions across Sony MAX, Sony SIX and Sony ESPN (SD+HD) channels. Not to forget that the official broadcaster, Sony Pictures Networks India (SPN), garnered a cumulative reach of 363.9 million viewers with just 32 matches as against last year’s 361 million viewers for the entire IPL tournament.

Hindi news channel Aaj Tak’s ratings shot up by 46 per cent on April 27 (Thursday), courtesy its interview with BJP national president Amit Shah between 10.20 am and 10.52 am. The same got 0.4 million impressions as against its previous four week average of 0.3 million impressions. The Hindi news channel continued to lead BARC’s Top 5 Hindi News channel for Week 17 (April 22-28), with 104 million impressions.

The premiere of Hollywood action movie ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows’ improved  HBO and HBO HD viewership by 47 per cent in the first airing between 1 pm and 3.09 pm from the previous 4 weeks’ average of 0.068 million impressions to 0.1 million impressions. The second airing between 9 pm and 11.09 pm strengthened its viewership by 48 per cent from previous 4 weeks’ average of 0.048 million impressions to 0.72 million impressions. HBO acquired the second place in BARC’s Top 5 English Movie channels for week 17, with 2.6 million impressions.

The premiere of fantasy drama TV series Game of Thrones Season 6 on April 24 (Monday) improved Star World and Star World HD viewership 2.2 times. The ratings shot up to 0.007 million impressions between 10 pm and 11.02 pm from the previous 4 weeks’ average of 0.003 million impressions. 

The premiere of Bollywood romantic movie ‘Ok Jaanu’ between 12.59 pm and 3.58 pm boosted Colors ratings by a meager 17 per cent (for that time slot) from the previous 4 weeks’ average of 1.4 million impressions to 1.7 million impressions. The Hindi GEC took the third spot in BARC’s Top 10 Hindi GEC space, garnering 554 million impressions.

The final episode of singing reality show ‘Rising Star’ on April 23 (Sunday) between 9 pm and 11.16 pm improved Colors viewership by 16 per cent from the previous 4 weeks’ average of 5.9 million impressions to 6.8 million impressions.

The launch episode of new shows ‘Poove Poochudava’ and ‘Yaaradi Nee Mohini’ on Monday increased the ratings of Tamil GEC Zee Tamil by a significant 81 per cent. The former aired at 8 pm and brought in 1.7 million impressions compared to the previous 4 weeks’ average of 0.9 million impressions. Similarly, the latter, aired at 8.30 pm, fetched 2 million impressions as against its previous 4 weeks’ average of 1.1 million impressions. The Tamil GEC ranked fourth in BARC’s Top 5 Tamil GEC category for Week 17 with 224 million impressions.
