Kannada channel Suvarna to host talent hunt show ‘Confident Star Singer’

Coinciding with the Suvarna Karnataka celebrations, Kannada TV channel Suvarna is set to present a music reality show, ‘Confident Star Singer’, in association with the Confident Group. The reality show is about the younger generation and their journey to stardom. ‘Star Singer’ will be a hunt for a talented singer who can capture the hearts of millions with the winning combination of singing and entertainment quotient.

Shyamsunder, Chief Operating Officer, Suvarna, said, “Suvarna was started six months ago as a gift for Suvarna Karnataka, and since launch we have been providing 24-carat entertainment. With ‘Confident Star Singer’ we will bring the best of young singing talent. It’s a golden chance for every aspiring singer as the grand prize is a break in music director Guru Kiran’s next project and a flat worth Rs 40 lakh in Bangalore.”

Suvarna received an overwhelming 50,000 applications from contestants, of which 101 have been selected for the first round. Suvarna has built a grand set for this contest. The show would be aired from December 10, Monday to Friday in the 8-9 pm block.

The contest will be judged by music director Guru Kiran, playback singer Nandita and musician Praveen D Rao. This would be the first time Guru Kiran would be seen in a reality show. He said, “I’m very happy that Suvarna is coming forward to search for talented Kannada singers. The industry requires this talent and I’m looking forward to see the best aspiring singers of Karnataka on ‘Star Singer’.”

Suvarna, a Kannada general entertainment channel, was launched in 2007 to coincide with the Suvarna Karnataka celebrations. Part of Asianet Television Network, which is a bouquet of satellite-based regional television channels, Suvarna provides wholesome family entertainment, which is captured in the tagline – ‘24-carat Manoranjane’.
