Chennai-based Kalaignar TV Network, which has regional GEC Kalaignar TV and music channel Isaiaruvi in its bouquet, is planning to launch three new channels in the news, comedy and kids (cartoons) genres. The Network has also chalked out aggressive plans to ramp up capacity and expand its presence across the globe, especially in the US, Canada, Singapore and Malaysia.
Kalaignar TV channel is already on air in the UK. It has entered into a distribution partnership with Sri Lanka’s direct-to-home (DTH) service provider Dialog TV. As per the partnership, Dialog TV has introduced Kalaignar TV to its portfolio of international television content.
Florent C Pereira, General Manager-Administration, Kalaignar TV, said, “We have almost finalised our talks with players in Singapore and Malaysia and the channel will go on air in the two countries at the earliest.”
Pereira added, “We are also planning to launch our three new channels very soon.” When asked for further details regarding the new channels, Pereira said more information would be shared in time.
Meanwhile, Kalaignar TV has lined up a slew of new content. The channel has acquired the exclusive telecast rights of latest Tamil blockbuster movies like ‘Sivaji’, ‘Dasavadharam’, ‘Billa’, ‘Kuruvi’, ‘Bhima’, ‘Vel’ and National Award winning ‘Mozhi’ and ‘Paruthi Veeran’. Comedy flicks like ‘Imsai Arasan’ and ‘23rd Pulikesi’ are some of the channel’s celluloid assets. This apart, Kalaignar TV has also lined up a series of daily soaps featuring popular South Indian stars.
