Just TV Punjabi channel eyes June launch

Channel Guide India Ltd is all set to launch its new channel Just TV Punjabi in mid-June this year. Just TV Punjabi is targeted at the Punjabi speaking belt. Manish Vasisht is CEO and currently also Managing Partner, for Channel Guide India Ltd. He informed, “In the first phase, we are launching this channel in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh and parts of Delhi. Just TV Punjabi will be available on cable. We are currently in talks with DTH operators to make it available on the DTH platform as well.”

“Just TV Punjabi would be the only general entertainment channel in Punjab, as no other channel exists in the GEC domain. The channel would be a mix of daily soaps, reality shows, events, movies, comedy shows music shows, travel and lifestyle, religious shows, horror shows and kids’ shows. We are also planning air popular kids shows like ‘Junior G’ and ‘Tin Tin’ dubbed in Punjabi,” Vasisht further said.

He added, “We had embarked on this idea eight months ago. We are building a studio in Chandigarh and have built up a team of more than 150 people in Delhi, Mumbai and Chandigarh.”

Keeping in mind the family values, Vasisht said that the serials would be based on Punjabi literature and folk culture of the state. “We have tied up with a couple of producers for outsourcing shows,” he added.
