Jaya TV launches music and news channels

Jaya TV Network has recently launched two new channels – Jaya Plus and Jaya Max. While Jaya Plus is a 24-hour news channel, the latter is a music channel. With these launches, Jaya TV hopes to strengthen its offering and hopes to garner more eyeballs with its bouquet of channels.

According to Jaya TV officials, a soft launch had taken place, while the full-time transmission of both channels would commence in the third week of January 2008. Jaya Plus would offer news and news-based programmes, while Jaya Max, positioned as a ‘less talk and more music’ channel, will provide round-the-clock music. Jaya Plus would attempt to cater to all segments, breaking away from the current trend of only a certain group of audience.

With the launch of Jaya Plus, the news bulletins on Jaya TV will come down from the present eight to three, and the new channel will give priority to local and regional news. The programming content will include district round-ups, news about Tamil Nadu, as well as national and international news shows. Besides news, the channel will also have talk shows, panel discussions and a lot of infotainment programmes. Jaya TV has already set up bureaux for the new channel in the four metros, as also in Bangalore and Hyderabad.
