ITA Awards honours Subrata Roy Sahara, Arun Poorie, Ronnie Screwvala

In its seventh year, the Indian Television Academy (ITA) celebrated its annual ‘Big ITA Academy Awards’, celebrating excellence in the field of Indian televised entertainment. The event was attended by television industry stalwarts and stars across channels and organisations, representing the entire television industry.

Presenters at the function included Union Minister Kamal Nath; lyricist Javed Akhtar; filmmakers Mahesh Bhatt, Ramesh Sippy, Subhash Ghai, Rakesh Roshan, David Dhawan and Madhur Bhandarkar; actors Shabana Azmi, Gulshan Grover, Hrithik Roshan, Mumtaaz, Moushumi Chatterjee and Amrita Rao; among others.

ITA honoured Subrata Roy Sahara, Arun Poorie and Ronnie Screwvala with the ‘Academy Award’ for their contribution in the television industry. Amitabh Bachchan was honoured for having achieved ‘Ultimate Eminence’ in the world of entertainment, encompassing cinema, television and media.

IDEA IIFA Awards won the ‘Best Television Event’ award, while Zee Cinema bagged the ‘Best Hindi Movie Channel’ award, and ‘Pyaar ki shuruaat’ won the award for ‘Best Telefilm’.

Commenting on the win, Mohan Gopinath, Business Head, Zee Cinema, commented, “Zee Cinema is not a channel to rest on its laurels. The flow of awards since last year has provided us with greater impetus to work hard and sustain our leading position, adding value for the viewer.”
