IPL 9: Mumbai Indians Vs Kolkata Knight Riders attracts maximum viewership in week 3

Vivo IPL is garnering steady viewership as is evident from its third week BARC ratings. The match between Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders on April 28 recorded the highest ratings of 21,375 impressions across all across IPL’s official broadcasters, including Sony Max, Sony Six (SD+HD) and Sony ESPN (SD+HD).

It has to be pointed out that only Sony Max saw the above match garnering the highest viewership of 16,045 impressions, while Sony Six saw the match between the new entrants Rising Pune Supergiants and Gujarat Lions on April 29 gathering highest ratings of 3,933 impressions. On Sony ESPN the match between Rising Pune Supergiants and Kolkata Knight Riders on April 24 had the maximum ratings of 1709 impressions.

It might be coincidence that even on tournament’s first week Sony Max, saw the match between these two teams record the highest ratings (18,169). Both have been crowned IPL champions in the past –the former won in 2014 while the latter in 2015.

The third week of the tournament managed an average of 16,314 impressions across all the five channels. Following a similar trend like last two weeks, the movie channel Sony Max witnessed the highest average ratings of 11,884 impressions followed by sports channels Sony Six (3,051) and Sony ESPN (1,378).

Sony Max continues to top the BARC chart in the category of ‘Across All Genres’ recording 962,992 impressions for the week 17 (April 23-29), higher than last week (944126).
