Indian channels shine at Promax & BDA World Gold Awards

The fifth Promax & BDA World Gold Awards winners are announced and as has been the case so far, India has quite a few Golds, Silvers and Bronzes to its credit. STAR India has as many as 25 awards, MAX and SET have got six and four awards respectively. NDTV and Zoom have bagged three each and TV Today has got one award.

STAR Asia on the whole has bagged 40 awards. And, STAR India claiming a larger portion is good news for the country. “Promax is a very prestigious event for us and because it rewards creativity, an important one as well,” said Sameer Nair, COO, STAR India, “I am very happy and proud with these wins.”

For BDA Awards, the channel has seen recognition in categories ‘Bumper’, ‘ID’, ‘information Graphics’, Logo’, ‘Open’, ‘Art Direction & Design: Topical Promo’, ‘Art Direction & Design: PSA (Public Service Announcement)’, ‘Children of Game Set’, ‘One Time Only Set’, ‘Logo’ and ‘Topical On-Air’.

In regards to Promax awards, for Broadcast Television Station, STAR has won in categories like ‘Copywriting’, ‘Directing’, ‘Editing’, ‘Funniest Promotion’, ‘ID’, ‘Interstitial/Promotainment – Movies’, ‘Use of Library Music for a Promo’ and ‘Use of Original Music Composition’.

What must be heartening for STAR India would be the fact that a good portion of these wins are for channels like STAR Utsav and STAR One, along with new shows like ‘Kkavyanjali’.

MAX has got five BDA awards in the categories ‘Art Direction & Design: Special Events Promo’, ‘Sales & Marketing Presentation’ and three in ‘Art Direction & Design: Topical Promo Campaign’ for ‘Bliss’, ‘Cricket ID’ and ‘Extraaa Innings’. The one Promax Award is in the category ‘Use of Original Music Composition’..

All the four SET awards are for BDA, in categories, ‘ID’, ‘Promotional Items’ and ‘Topical Publication Advertising – Colour’ and ‘Topical All-Inclusive Combination’.

Tarun Katial, EVP and Business Head, Sony Entertainment Television, said, “It is an honour to see representation on the global platform. Jassi and Indian Idol are very special properties for us, which have done very well on different platforms – we are happy that they have succeeded in Promax as well.”

As for Zoom all three wins are for Promax Awards in categories, ‘Music Package/Post Score or Instrumental Theme With or Without Vocals’ and ‘Print Campaign’ has given the channel Gold and ‘Public Service Announcement (PSA)’ has a Silver.

All NDTV wins are also for Promax Awards in categories, ‘News Programme Promotion’, ‘Use of Library Music for a Promo’ and ‘Something for Nothing’. TV Today also has a Promax for the ‘Print Ad’ category.
