With Conditional Access System (CAS) coming into effect from the New Year, multi system operators (MSO), services providers and cable operators have got busy offering attractive packages. One of the latest to enter the CAS fray is IndusInd Media & Communications Ltd (IMCL), a Hinduja TMT Company.
Creating a futuristic buzz in the digital space on the small screen, IMCL is all set to make set top boxes (STB) more attractive. Its brand, IN Digital, a Mumbai-based MSO, has announced special bonanza packages to be launched in CAS areas.
IMCL Director In-charge, Ravi Masukhani, said, "We are all geared up for the CAS and DTH war. We are starting the service from December 31 and right now our focus is on South Delhi and South Mumbai. We have already sold 20,000 STBs in Delhi and are targeting 30,000 more STBS in the Capital, while in Mumbai, our target is 150,000 STBs."
He further said that at present there was no competition and that the only one player that had come into the market was Tata Sky. He added that the cable industry would never die with the existing DTH connections.
Elaborating on the channel offerings, Mansukhani said, "We have several good schemes and choices for our consumers. One could buy a Set Top Box outright for Rs 1,500, which includes installation charges, and get six months free subscription to any one of our pay channel packages. We are offering three packages - the first is the Sitara package, which offers 12 STAR group channels, CNBC, CNBC Awaz, CNN-IBN, BBC, in addition to any one Zee Turner Group channel and any one Sony Group channel. 18 channels would be offered free for six months. In the Sona package, we are offering 13 Sony (SET Group) channels, any two Zee Turner Group channels, CNN-IBN, CNBC, CNBC Awaaz and any two STAR Group channels. We would be offering 20 channels free for six months. The third is the Zabardast package, which offers 33 Zee group channels, any one Sony Group channel and any one STAR Group channel."
