Zee News Ltd has expanded its business scope with the introduction of the News Consultancy Services Division (NCS) division. The division has already been engaged by Goel TMT Group-promoted SB Multimedia to launch a 24x7 regional news channel, ‘Zee 24 Ghante Chhattisgarh’, under a franchisee agreement.

The Goel Group is one of the well-known business houses of Chhattisgarh and has been in involved in trading and manufacturing timber, rice, cement, plywood and steel for over five decades. The Group recently ventured into two diverse fields of media and generation of hydro power.

Commenting on the partnership, Barun Das, CEO, Zee News, said, “The NCS division will leverage Zee’ intellectual property such as expertise and experience and brand value to further grow the company. ‘Zee NCS’ will provide operational and strategic advice on a Build, Operate and Transfer (BOT) basis to entrepreneurs desirous of launching news channels in markets which do not figure out in our immediate expansion plan. A dedicated in-house mobile squad will provide marketing, research, technical, legal and production services to the franchisee. Selectively, we would also be licensing our brand to such franchisees as in the case of Zee 24 Ghante Chhattisgarh.”

Zee News has plans to come up with similar ventures in the near future too.
