Hollywood’s biggest stars with their favourite animals on Animal Planet

Animal Planet’s new series, In the Wild, brings Hollywood’s biggest stars’ special passion for animals to viewers. Slotted on every Wednesday and Saturday at 10 pm, the one-hour programme will bring home Julia Roberts, Meg Ryan, Goldie Hawn, Robin Williams and Anthony Hopkins and their favourite animals.

The series will answer questions like - Which is Julia Robert’s favourite animal? What brings Goldie Hawn to India time and again? What has been Anthony Hopkins’ life long ambition? Each episode contains extensive footage of the stars with their favourite animals.

So why is Animal Planet adding the glamour element? Raja Balasubramanian, Brand Director- Marketing, Animal Planet, said, “Let’s accept it, celebrities do sell and people like to see celebrities not in their celebrity-like roles. These people are passionate about animals and people are going to find that interesting.”

The series has Anthony Hopkins-Lions, Robin Williams-Dolphins, Goldie Hawn-Asian Elephants, Julia Roberts-Orangutans, Holly Hunter-Cheetahs, Whoopi Goldberg- Zoo Babies, Meg Ryan-White Elephants, John Cleese-Operation Lemurs, Ewan McGregor-Polar Bears and Julia Roberts- Horsemen of Mongolia. The series will be on till March.

The other new series that is on air at the moment is Wild on the Set, which presents the animals in various Hollywood movies. This series is slotted at 6:30 pm every Wednesday and Thursday. The second half of this year will see other new series from the Animal Planet boquet; among others there will be The Land of the Tigers and King of the Jungle.
