Keeping with its commitment of taking viewers down memory lane, The History Channel has launched a new series titled ‘Mera India’. The series that makes viewers relive glorious moments of Indian history, premiered on April 19 at 10 pm.
Through this series, the channel has embarked on a journey to explore and celebrate India’s rich past, turbulent eras and greatest achievements. ‘Mera India’ has been created in partnership with the Ministry of External Affairs. This association has been formed with a view to showcase the content to a wider, interested and relevant audience.
The eight-part series brings together episodes that unfold unique accomplishments that contribute towards India’s emerging success. Each episode lays stress on success stories from diverse fields such as the innovative e-chaupals in Madhya Pradesh, to value-added IT and ITES companies in Bangalore.
An episode on literary geniuses takes a look at the grand success of Indian writing in English through authors such as Amitav Ghosh, Vikram Seth and Arundhati Roy, among others. One of the episodes profiles Bollywood, thereby capturing the glamorous world of Indian film industry.
“In our constant endeavour to bond better with the local community, we are introducing our latest India specific programme ‘Mera India’. This time around, we have moved a step forward in spicing up our programming content by collaborating with the Ministry of External Affairs, which is known for its vast library of culturally rich documentaries. This unique association allows us to showcase the rich content before a wider audience,” said Joy Bhattacharjya, Senior Vice President, Programming, The History Channel India.
