Hindi news & current affairs channel TV9 Mumbai launches today

TV9 Mumbai, a 24x7 Hindi news and current affairs urban channel, is hitting airwaves at 9 am on January 9. Chandramohan Puppala has been roped in as Channel Head. TV9 Mumbai will target the big cities of Maharashtra with a primary focus on Mumbai. According to sources, Rs 22 crore had been spent on the channel.

Distribution of the channel would be done through all cable operators and the channel expects to cover 70 per cent of the Mumbai metropolitan region within 2-3 days. It is not currently available on the DTH platform.

TV9 Mumbai will have seven bureaus across Maharashtra with 180 staffers. The channel will embark on a promotion burst from next week.

TV9 is owned by Associated Broadcasting Company Pvt Ltd (ABCL), which runs news channels like TV9 Karnataka, TV9 Gujarat, a Telugu channel called Sanskriti, Bengali channel Kolkata TV and a Malayalam channel India Vision.
