HBO to premiere original series ‘Big Love’ on August 4

Following the success of most of it original series launched in India, HBO has now announced the launch of a new original series, ‘Big Love’, in India. The series will premiere on August 4 after the 9 pm movie, post which, HBO will air two episodes of ‘Big Love’ back to back every Monday, with repeat telecasts on Saturdays and Sundays at the same time slot.

Shruti Bajpai, Country Manager, South Asia, HBO Asia, said, “‘Big Love’ is an addictive drama that unfolds at different levels. It is an interesting show, at the same time it is niche. HBO Original productions are a strong differentiator for the channel to create extra value for its viewers. ‘Big Love’ is a series which is contemporary and we are sure that the discerning Indian viewer will love this series for its top quality production and its unorthodox storyline.”

Commenting on the advertising marketing plans, Bajpai said, “This is a niche show so we will be advertising only on the online medium as we do aggressive marketing only around our blockbusters.”

‘Big Love’ is an offbeat, contemporary, drama about a Mormon family in Utah that practices polygamy. The story revolves around Bill Henrickson, his three wives and their combined family of seven children. At first glance, Bill Henrickson seems to lead a typical suburban life. A religious and hard-working husband, who only wants the best for his family, this Salt Lake City native tries to find enough time for them while overseeing the expansion of his successful home-improvement business. But, Bill is also a polygamist and with three wives, seven children and three homes to maintain, his life is anything but ordinary. ‘Big Love’ will be on HBO till October 20, 2008.
