GEC Watch: Buoyed by KBC, Sony overtakes Colors to claim No. 2 spot

Sony Entertainment Television has gained a massive 50 points to go up to the second position among Hindi GECs as per TAM Media Research data for Week 34, 2011. The channel’s GRP for Week 34 stands at 245 as against 195 in the previous week. Sony has scored with ‘KBC Season 5’, which garnered a TVR of 5.24 in HSM metros for its opening episode.

With this, Colors gets pushed to the third spot. The channel also shed 4 points to register a GRP of 232 in Week 34 from 236 in the previous week.

Meanwhile, Star Plus maintained its lead with 297 GRPs in Week 34, up 20 points from the previous week’s 277 GRPs.

Zee TV slid to the fourth position, but gained four points – from 190 GRPs in Week 33 to 194 GRPs in Week 34, 2011. Sab, which has recently launched a few new serials, gained marginally with its GRPs at 128 in Week 34. The channel is placed fifth. Imagine, too, has gained 5 points at 76 GRPs.

However, both Star One and Sahara One, which were neck and neck at 36 GRPs in Week 33, shed points this week. While Star One dropped to 32 GRPs in Week 34, Sahara One was at 31 GRPs.
