FTV urges I&B Ministry to lift ban

Fashion TV has urged the government to lift the ban imposed on it. On April 1, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting had slapped a ban on FTV, charging it with airing obscene content in programmes such as ‘Midnight Hot’.

FTV has argued in a representation to the I&B Ministry that it had “strict internal vigilance committee” to ensure that there is no unauthorised content on its Indian feed.

Apart from claiming that its content was as per Indian regulations, FTV said that it provides an “international platform for Indian designers”, and that banning the channel would negatively impact the promotion of the Indian fashion industry.

It may be recalled that the government had also banned AXN on January 17 for indecent content on the show ‘World’s Sexiest Ads’, but lifted the ban after the channel apologised.
