Fox India applies for licenses for new channels

FOX Channels (India) Private Limited (FOX India) announced the entry of FOX Channels into India. FOX India has applied for licenses for a number of new channels, with the Information and Broadcasting Ministry.

The Fox platform already has a plethora of niche channels such as Fox Life, FX, Fox Crime, Cult, Speed and Voyage. Fox India will be launching Fox Crime, Nat Geo Music, Nat Geo Adventure, Nat Geo Wild, FX, Nat Geo HD and Baby TV in India.

Commenting on Fox Channels’ India foray, Nikhil Mirchandani, Managing Director, NGC Network (India) Pvt Ltd, said, “The near future would see the entertainment industry getting a plethora of niche channels from the Fox stable. The Fox Channels are known for their strong, highly recognisable entertainment brands and worldwide presence. The to-be launched Fox channels would cater to all demographics and interest areas of Indian audiences from investigation to entertainment and wildlife to children’s television.”

Mirchandani further said, “There is a large untapped audience in India for specialised content. It is expected that these channels would offer viewers innovative and unique programming and would most definitely be well received. They would also strengthen relationships with advertising partners, who would have yet another platform to reach out to niche audiences with a global outlook.”
