There are some senior level changes at Taj Television India, owners of Ten Sports. Where Sharmista Rijhwani, MD, Taj Television India, had moved on a month back, the organisation has decided to hand over this portfolio -- the function of sales, marketing and distribution -- to Rukin Kizilbash. Kizilbash has been elevated to General Manager. In his new role, he will oversee all activities of Taj Television India across the country including distribution, sales and marketing.
Hitherto, he was heading advertising sales for Taj Television India since its launch in early 2002. On the other hand, Kishan C was heading distribution, and Rakesh Rao was heading marketing. In Rijhwani’s absence, all these functional heads were directly reporting to Chris McDonald, CEO, Taj TV Ltd. With the new development, marketing and distribution heads will report to Kizilbash. The programming duties, as is known, is headed by Peter Hutton and he reports directly to McDonald -- there is no change in this.
McDonald said, “Given India’s dynamic electronic media industry, Rukin is the right choice to lead the fortunes of Taj Television India. He has proven his revenue generation and management capabilities over many years, by consistently surpassing sales targets and by leading a very strong and talented sales team. His maturity, relationships within the industry, and coolness under pressure are great assets as well, and I look forward to working with him and the entire team at Taj Television India to take the Ten Sports business to new highs in the years ahead.”
“I am honoured to have been given this opportunity to lead Taj Television India into the next phase of its growth. We will aggressively pursue innovative approaches to build our business, in light of the many new media technologies and opportunities, which present themselves in India. With Ten Sports’ superb line-up of the best sports content and plans for exciting new acquisitions, we will continue to delight the channel’s millions of viewers across the country,” said Kizilbash.
