Filmy comes up with a spoof on KBC, brings in Ruk Ruk Khan for ‘Kaun Banega Champu’

Filmy is out to raise some laughs, albeit at the cost of KBC-SRK. It is launching ‘Kaun Banega Champu’, a spoof on the reality game show, and even has a quiz master with a name similar to SRK – Ruk Ruk Khan. The show premieres from February 11 at 7.30 pm.

Shailesh Kapoor, Marketing and Content Head, Filmy, said, “The show is starting with a first season of 13 episodes. Ruk Ruk Khan will quiz spoof Bollywood celebrities like Suresh Menon, Amitabh Bachchan, Karan Johar, etc. The main reason for starting this programme is that Filmy in the last one year has been doing film based spoofs and comedy shows. When ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ was announced, we thought this time why not spoof it. We are confident it will be a big success.”

Kapoor further said, “I don’t think there is any direct competition. There are other channels doing comedy shows, but ours is a spoof comedy show. Basically, we made an effort to twist everything in a very funny way like the ‘Hot Seat’ is a ‘Pot Seat’, hotlines are pipelines, etc. There’s no competition to KBC as that’s a reality show and it is on a much wider platform.”

“The look of the show is very classy. In fact, the show can stand on its own. We are targeting people who are watching Filmy and entertainment content. Basically people in the 15-45 age group will enjoy the show. Both Bollywood and comedy shows are meant for mass entertainment,” added Kapoor.

In ‘Kaun Banega Champu’, host Ruk Ruk Khan (played by Sunil Grover) engages the celebrity guest (played by Suresh Menon) to play in this quiz based game show. On offer are ladders of success such as ‘jumma ka chumma’, ‘kholi No. 420’, ‘maa ka aashirwad’, etc. The participant can, if needed, take the aid of a pipeline – audience jhol, kaun hai friend and sexy 20. After two segments, the participant loses and exits the show, paving the way for another participant, another celebrity spoof character to enter the show and start playing. In such a manner the second character follows on and spills into the second episode, exiting at the end of the segment. And so the third character plays out two segments into the second episode.

Some questions can change your life… but you won’t hear them in ‘Kaun Banega Champu’.
