ENBA 2012: NDTV sweeps awards; Times Now is News Channel of the Year

The exchange4media News Broadcasting Awards (ENBA) 2012 were given away in the National Capital on August 31 at a ceremony attended by who’s who of the news broadcasting industry.

NDTV 24x7 bagged the maximum five Awards in the Best Talk Show, Best In-depth Series, Best Video Editor, Best Public Service Campaign for a Brand by a News Channel, and Young Professional of the Year – Editorial categories.

Headlines Today took home four Awards. The channel shared the Young Professional of the Year – Editorial Award with NDTV 24x7. Other awards were in the categories of Best Current Affairs Programme and Best News Coverage – International, and Best Anchor for Rahul Kanwal.

This year, four Excellence Awards have been given away. The winners were decided by a distinguished Jury panel led by Jury Chairperson Uday Shankar, CEO, STAR India.

Radhika Roy, Executive Co-Chairperson, NDTV, has been conferred with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

The other two Excellence Awards have been bagged by Times Now. The channel has been adjudged News Channel of the Year, while its Editor-in-Chief, Arnab Goswami, has been declared News Television Editor-in-Chief of the Year.

The jury members include Anuja Chauhan, Author; Chintamani Rao, Strategic Marketing and Media Advisor; CVL Srinivas, Chairman, SMG India, and MD, LiquidThread, Asia-Pac; Dr SS Mantha, Chairman, AICTE; Krishna Prasad, Editor, Outlook; Madan Bahal, Managing Director, Adfactors PR; Maheshwer Peri, Publisher, Careers360; PN Vasanti, Director, CMS; Sandeep Goyal, Vice Chairman, Mogae Group; and Shravan Garg, Chief Editor, Nai Dunia, MP and Chhattisgarh.

The other winners include: IBN Lokmat, which walked away with three awards in the Best Spot News Reporting, Best Continuing Coverage by a Reporter, and Best News Programme in a Regional Language – West categories.

CNN-IBN has won the Award for Best News Coverage – National. IBN7 has won the Award in the Best In-Show Graphics category. Aaj Tak took home the Award for Best Videographer, while TV9 Karnataka has won the Award for Best News Programme in a Regional Language – South. The Best Channel Marketing Award went to ABP News, while PTC News bagged the Award for Best Channel or Programme Promo. NDTV Convergence won the Award for Best Website for ndtv.com.

This year, the judging process was held in two phases. The first phase of judging took place online between August 18 and August 20. The Jury members met in Delhi on August 24 for the second and final round of judging to decide on the winners.
