eNBA 2011: Star News – empowering the audience

Star News was adjudged the News Channel of the Year – Indian Language at the e4m News Broadcasting Awards 2011, which was held in New Delhi on August 27, 2011.

Two of the biggest names in media – Kolkata-based Ananda Bazar Patrika and Rupert Murdoch’s STAR Group – came together to form MCCS (Media Content & Communications Services India Pvt Ltd). Today, MCCS broadcasts India’s leading Hindi news channel Star News, India’s first 24-hour Bengali news channel Star Ananda, and India’s first 24-hour Marathi news channel Star Majha.

The News Channel of the Year – Indian Language Award was given to Star News for showing an exemplary sense of professional responsibility, delivering information that empowers the audience, achieving ratings and creating effective advertising medium without compromising the core journalistic values of truth, accuracy and fairness.

Receiving the Award, a representative of Star News said, “This Award is an honour for truthful, accurate and impartial news. This is an honour for the Star News viewers. This is an honour for all those news professionals who decided that they would take the difficult path and reach the right destination.”
