Doordarshan to usher in the New Year with music and film bonanza

Television viewers will be treated to non-stop fun filled entertainment extravaganza by the Doordarshan on the New Year eve.

DD Metro will add spice to the New Year celebrations on December 31, with ‘Non stop music masti 2002’ a high energy music and dance hungama with sizzling performances from talented artists like Abbey, Sanober Kabir, Vinay Anand, Ishaan of Mohabbatein, Sonya Rao of Dum and Shweta Memon of Ishq fame. Along with the hilarious comic act of Razzak Khan and Jonny Lever’s brother Jimmy Moses, Vivek Oberoi for the first time will perform to the beats of film Dum.

Doordarshan’s national network will telecast a special New Year eve show on the evolution of comedy in Hindi cinema with a sizzling set designed by Bijon Das Gupta and special effects by Roger Drego. Achored by Sudesh Bhosle, the programme, a heady mix of humour, entertainment, music and fun has performances by leading pop stars like Shaan, A K of Dil Chata Hai fame, Hema Sardesai, Shraya Ghoshal of Dev Das fame and Bombay Vikings.

Besides special New Year eve shows on DD 1 and DD Metro, Doordarshan will also telecast non-stop Hindi blockbusters – Shakti, Coolie No. 1, Hero No. 2, Pyar To Hona Hi Tha and Viraasat. On the New Year day (January 1), Doordarshan will be introducing Sanjay Khan mega mythological serial Maharati Karan. This signals Doordashan’s makeover of its DD National Channel with star-studded mega mythological, historical and other serials by celebrity producers.
