Doordarshan to telecast new devotional series on Guru Granth Sahib

Doordarshan has lined up a new devotional series, ‘Guru Manyo Granth’, to commemorate 300 years of Gurta Gaddi Divas of Siri Guru Granth Sahib.

The seven-part daily series goes on air on DD National (DD1) from October 24 at 8.30 pm and will cover the entire history and philosophy of Siri Guru Granth Sahib, the holy scripture of the Sikhs.

The well-researched series covering Gurudwaras (Sikh holy shrines) relating to Sikh gurus and bhagats (disciples) will open with an episode on the compilation of Guru Granth Sahib. This will be followed by subsequent half hour episodes on compilation of Guru Gaddi of Guru Granth Sahib, musical arrangement of Gurbani, depiction of nature in Guru Granth Sahib, Bhakt Vani in Guru Granth Sahib, and the universal message of Guru Granth Sahib.

The series will culminate on October 30 with a one-hour grand finale episode, ‘Gavo Sachi Bani’, a live musical concert in which eminent Ragi Jathas will participate at the holy Sikh shrine of Takht Sri Keshgarh Sahib in Anandpur.
