Discovery Channel salutes India’s technological prowess

On India’s 60th year of Independence, Discovery Channel will showcase India's technological progress and the power of innovation exemplified in the advanced products and solutions indigenously created by Indian scientists and common people.

The show ‘Daily Planet Goes to India’ is a six-episode series, and will be premiered on August 15 at 8 pm. The show will be subsequently aired on Wednesdays in the same time slot, and will showcase unique innovations that are changing the face of India and propelling the nation into the 21st century.

Commenting on the launch of the series, Deepak Shourie, EVP and Managing Director, Discovery Networks India, said, “Technology is fast becoming India's biggest strength and strongest differentiator. Alongside empowering India's economic growth, the series highlights how India's technological capabilities have amplified its reputation around the world. It also describes how product and service innovations from grassroots levels to moon missions are making a difference to our daily lives. On the 60th year of our Independence, we believe it is the most pertinent message to send to millions of Discovery viewers spread around the country."

The series will feature India’s plan to reach the moon, building up sky buses to avoid traffic congestions and have better infrastructure, and many other innovations that have already been made by people from rural India, that have led to the minimisation of problems in the rural areas to a great extent.

It will also feature eminent industrialist Narayan Murthy and India’s renowned scientist MS Swaminathan talk about India’s achievements and the way forward.
