The Delhi High Court has given a stay order in favour of AXN channel regarding a case involving ‘A’ certification for a movie aired on July 12, 2012 on the channel.
The order comes on the back of a PIL filed by Multi Screen Media against a notice from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) in September 2012, ordering ban on AXN for one day on April 28, 2013 for violation of the programme code.
The case concerns airing of the English movie ‘Darkness Files’ on AXN in July 2012. The film had been given an ‘A’ certificate by the Central Board for Film Certification (CBFC).
Explaining the matter, Naresh Chahal, Vice President, Head of Corporate Affairs, MSM, told exchange4media, “The movie ‘Darkness Files’ that was aired on AXN was recertified U/A by CBFC, but due to some human error we didn’t edit the ‘A’ mark in the beginning of movie. However, the content was suitable for all TV viewers.”
The next hearing is scheduled for July 13, 2013.
