To mark one year of the terrorist attacks in America, CNN will air a special programme –‘America Remembers’. The two part series will be aired on Saturday the 17th and 24 of August at 4:30 PM.
The CNN Perspectives documentary focuses on the attacks and also airs previously unseen footage of the devastation and destruction in New York and Washington, D.C. CNN staffers relate their immediate thoughts and reactions to the devastating news of the plane crashes; and some even share their efforts to stay alive as they gathered the news.
Says, Rena Golden, CNN International GM and Exec. VP “‘America Remembers’ is an incredibly powerful and moving documentary. It hurls us back into the shock and horror of the day through personal accounts of those that were there at the Pentagon and Ground Zero, and without whom the world would not have been able to witness the events as they unfolded.”
In the first part, ‘America Remembers’ offers viewers a glimpse into the CNN newsroom as the planes crashed into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon; and replays the reactions from citizens in New York and Washington, D.C. as they witnessed their cities under attack.
In the second part, the documentary looks into the aftermath of the terror attacks and the U.S. government’s swift actions in calling upon global leaders for aid in the ‘War Against Terrorism’. The report also accounts the anthrax attacks in the U.S.
The documentary also looks at the response from Afghanistan including those who sided with Al Qaida and the other Afghani civilians who welcomed freedom from the Taliban.
