CNN launches show on the art and business of cinema

CNN International has launched a new monthly show, which looks at the world of international cinema. ‘The Screening Room’, that was launched on March 30 at 11 pm, focusses on the understanding of cinema, the business of moviemaking and provides a perspective on various films. The repeat telecast of the show will be aired on Saturday and Sunday.

The show will be in the format of a half-hour monthly movie show. “Through this show, we are offering an international perspective on the world of films, and travelling around the globe to bring viewers the inside track on all the aspects of the moviemaking business. ‘The Screening Room’ features a mix of revealing insights, intelligent interviews and on-location reporting from film festivals and red-carpet events,” said an official from the channel.

‘The Screening Room’ will also look at various media issues and attempt to cover and feature in detail, topics like animation, documentaries films, and short films, as well as the much-debated issue of piracy.

The show will be hosted by British television anchor Myleene Klass. Each episode, which will be telecast every last Friday of the month, will explore the art of the world’s most talented actors, directors, composers and screenwriters. It will also travel to essential film festivals — Los Angeles, London, Tokyo, Tribeca, Sydney and Sundance.
