CNN-IBN gets a new on-air look

CNN-IBN’s on-screen look has undergone a change with a new and improved design for its news tickers and Astons. The new look will let viewers follow the day’s breaking news, headlines, stock scores and announcements, appearing at the bottom of the television screen, in a fresh new format.

Rajen Garabadu, Executive Producer, CNN-IBN, said, “The main reason behind creating a fresh new look for our tickers and Astons is to provide viewers with enhanced visual clarity and to re-organise the information bars and make them more viewer-friendly. The new colours and format are vibrant and attractive and will offer our viewers all the necessary information they require.”

The new design for the double-scroll ticker and Astons is vibrant, interactive and catchy. The overall pace of the animation has been designed to keep the screen buzzing with information. The new ticker provides the viewer all kinds of information, including news updates, programme reminders, advertisements, weather and cricket reports, in a viewer-friendly and uncluttered manner without taking up too much screen space.

While the previous layout has been drastically re-vamped, the new addition is a vertical navigator box on the right-hand side that will display the latest weather information, cricket scores, time and date, information on the current, upcoming shows and advertising messages.

The navigator box also allows for display of video clips, such as sneak previews of upcoming programmes, and is the first of its kind among news channels across the world. This new and improved look is aimed to provide greater visual clarity and increase screen space by reducing clutter.

Another feature is the use of different colours to denote the genre of the news story being aired. National headlines would be displayed in red, sports in blue, entertainment stories in purple, and international bulletins in black and white. This will allow viewers to distinguish between the nature of the various news bulletins being shown throughout the day. In addition, the Astons, the top-most section displaying information on the current story, will no longer be fixed and box-like, but will instead adjust according to the number of characters being displayed – thereby permitting more screen space for the story’s visuals. The new format is designed to be more informative and comprehensible for the viewers.

In particular, the navigation box will provide excellent visibility for those choosing to advertise with us as well as weather, stock and programming information for the audience with enhanced readability of the advertising messages.”
