The much-awaited budget is over and it’s time for news channels to see who delivered better and how they have performed throughout the week. TV rating agency Television Audience Measurement (TAM) has declared viewership results for the week ending March 17 (Week 11, 2012), comprising the budget day performance of news channels.
For the TG of CS 15+ CNBC-TV18 has retained its top spot from last year for delivering the maximum amongst all English Business News Channels on budget day. CNBC-TV18 delivered a 71 per cent market share on budget day. ET Now and NDTV Profit come next with 11 per cent market share each. Bloomberg UTV is in last position with six per cent of share among the news channels.
To give a sense of the core TG of CS 25+, the ratings chart shows similar ranking in the Business News Channels. CNBC TV18 holds a 72 per cent share this year, ET Now has 11 per cent, NDTV has 11 percent and Bloomberg UTV has six per cent.
Moving towards market shares on FM Speech in English Business News category for the TG of CS 15+ and TG of CS 25+ respectively, CNBC-TV18 again gained the top spot with 84 per cent and 82 per cent, ET Now with nine per cent and 10 per cent is in the second spot. NDTV Profit with three per cent on both the TG is at the third spot. Bloomberg UTV is in the fourth position with three per cent and two per cent.
Apart from the Business News Channel category, TAM has also released the ratings for general English News Channel ratings on budget day.
CNBC-TV18 sitting on the top position with 38 per cent, following the spot is ET Now with six per cent market share. NDTV Profit has also got six per cent share and Bloomberg UTV has three per cent. Times Now in the general category has got 12 per cent market share and NDTV 24x7 has got eight per cent of share. Headlines Today also make in the list with eight per cent and News X exists with 0 per cent. (CS 15+ TG)
