Chennai-based UF Media, which publishes Tamil daily ‘Tamil Sudar’, has launched a lifestyle and music channel, UFX. The multi-lingual channel will cater to Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Telugu as well as Hindi audiences. However, the medium of communication will be English.
Apart from south Indian music, the channel will also air Bollywood and international music. The channel will also air shows on food, fashion, the Internet and travel, along with films and interviews with celebrities.
Usman Faheed, Managing Director, UFX, is very confident about the positioning of the channel. He said, “The channel is youthful, energetic and full of fun, so there will be no dearth of audience. We won’t give you a single dull moment.”
Channel UFX is the brainchild of Dr Usman Fayaz, Head of the UF Group. Commenting on the new channel, Dr Fayaz, said, “Armed with some of the best brains in the business and state-of-the-art technology, UFX is all set to carve a unique name for itself in the entertainment business.”
Currently, the channel is in the soft launch stage and the company is working on the distribution process. UFX channel will be launched in its full fledged form by the end of June. The second phase will see it being launched across C&S homes.
All the shows will be aired on the MPEG 4 format. Shortly after its full-fledged launch, the channel would be available in most of the DTH platforms and cable, according to channel authorities. UFX target audience in the age bracket of 15-35, SEC A.
Commenting on the shows on UFX, Channel Producer Radhakrishnan said, “The shows on Channel UFX have been carefully planned and mirror the needs of our audience. We want to take our audiences to a different world altogether.”
