In a bid to place itself on the global map, Channel 7 has entered into an alliance with NUMTV.com, one of the largest web portals in the world, marking the channel’s availability on broadband worldwide.
The tie-up, which happened around two weeks back, would enable Channel 7 to reach over two million users of NUM TV worldwide in 38 major countries, including the US, UK, Africa, Hong Kong, and Australia, informed Piyush Jain, Chief Operating Officer, Channel 7.
Channel 7 will be available at a nominal price of $2 per month for all subscribers. As per the agreement, NUMTV will not control the content of the channel, but will only beam the channel through the Internet.
Terming the alliance as a non-exclusive one, Jain pointed out that the wide reach of NUMTV as the reason for tying up with the same. “Channel 7’s stories on the recent Aishwarya Rai-Salman Khan controversy drove a lot of traffic to the channel through NUMTV at the sampling stage. This convinced us of the importance of a worldwide presence for a desired impact. Channel 7 will be looking at the international market seriously and tapping the NRIs is going to be one of the steps the channel will be taking to move up the growth ladder,” he added.
Part of the well-known Chennai-based Pentamedia Group, NUMTV is a web-streaming portal that live streams Indian TV channels through the Internet.
