CASBAA Convention 2008 to be held in Hong Kong on October 28-30; stress on future

The Cable & Satellite Broadcasting Association of Asia (CASBAA) has announced the keynote speakers and other details of the 15th CASBAA Convention 2008, which will be held in Hong Kong on October 28-30.

The CASBAA Convention 2008 will be keynoted by Anne Sweeney, Co-Chair, Disney Media Networks, and President, Disney-ABC Television Group. Additional headline speakers include Darren Childs, Managing Director of BBC Global Channels, and Abe Peled, Chairman of NDS.

“We are delighted that such distinguished global media leaders have agreed to headline this year’s convention. The event will be hosted in a state-of-the-art venue, providing an unprecedented experience for our participants and an ideal annual meeting place for our industry in the Asia Pacific,” said Marcel Fenez, Chairman, CASBAA.

Themed ‘Subscribe to the Future – All Eyes are on Asia’, the three-day CASBAA Convention 2008 has invited more C-level executives as expert speakers to share their insights on the fast-changing pay-TV business.

The Convention this year would offer panel discussions and presentations covering the industry’s hottest topics such as the pay-TV strategies in post-Olympic China, the new media generation, the future of mobile TV, digital media solutions, content development, the pay-TV regulation in the region and the examining of the pay- TV markets in India and Korea.

Besides, a brand-new programme would be added this year – ‘The Future of Pay-TV Advertising Workshop.’ It would be a highly-interactive forum for the decision-making executives to analyse how the pay-TV industry has impacted the advertising business.

“The CASBAA Convention remains a significant annual event for our industry in Asia, thanks to the continuous support from our sponsors, partners and members,” Fenez added.

The CASBAA Convention 2008 will be presented by InvestHK and supported by sponsors, including Asia Broadcast Satellite, Arianespace, Arqiva, AsiaSat, BBC, Discovery Networks Asia, Disney ABC Television Group, Eurosport, Eutelsat, Globecast, Harmonic, HBO Asia, Intelsat, Irdeto, Measat, Motorola, Nagravision, Now TV, Paul Weiss, Playboy, PricewaterhouseCoopers, SAT-GE, Synovate, Tandberg Television, TRACE, Turner International Asia Pacific, TV5MONDE, and Universal Electronics.
