Bharti Teletech launches DTH digital set-top box

Ludhiana-based Bharti Teletech has introduced direct-to-home (DTH) digital set-top boxes (STB), called SD 98, under the brand name "Beetel".

The largest manufacturer of fixed-line phones in India has introduced the product all over the country. The product is present in all metros, small towns and rural areas.

Bharti Teletech is a Bharti enterprise and is India's leading telephone instrument manufacturing company, one of the largest in the world. Established in 1985, the company's manufacturing operations are in ISO-9000 certified plants in Mapusa (Goa) and Ludhiana, with an installed capacity of 6 million telephone units annually.

SD 98 is priced at just Rs 2,095 and offers "free entertainment for a lifetime" through all free-to-air channels, along with a host of other benefits. The Beetel DTH set-top box provides multi-language support, lightning arrestor, inbuilt stabiliser, digital picture quality, zoom picture facility and channel-editing functions. The device can stand high-voltage fluctuations ranging from 80V to 300V; power consumption is less than 25 watt, and it can be run on batteries. Besides, it has one of the best chip sets for extra digital clarity and can store up to 5,000 channels.

Bharti Teletech CEO Pawan Kapur said: "The launch of SD 98 Beetel Set Top box is another initiative from Bharti Teletech to offer cutting-edge products to consumers. This technologically advanced device will make the experience of television entertainment truly unique for the ones who do not have access to cable connections. Above all, this product is very much affordable with no recurring costs and comes with a one-year warranty."
