In week 6 (February 1-7, 2015), Bengali GECs recorded a major increase in ratings in the regional market space, while most other regional channels witnessed a decline.
According to data sourced from TAM subscribers CS4+ for week 6, Bengali GEC Star Jalsha saw its ratings dip to 98,463 GVTs from 115,321 in week 5. The viewership for Zee Bangla, on the other hand, increased to 84,849 GVTs compared with 80,213 the last week. ETV Bangla’s ratings also increased to 26,476 GVTs from 22,223 in week 5. Aakaash Aath too saw a rise in viewership. The channel recorded 14,848 GVTs this week compared with 13,373 a week ago. Rupashi Bangla’s ratings increased marginally to 2149 GVTs compared with 2121 the last week.
In Bihar and Jharkhand, Big Magic Ganga saw its ratings increase to 1327 GVTs this week against 1296 in week 5. Mahuaa also saw a rise in its ratings. The channel recorded 846 GVTs this week compared with 712 in week 5. Anjan’s ratings declined to 688 GVTs from 709 a week ago. Hummra M recorded 416 GVTs. The ratings of Oscar Movies Bhojpuri remained the same as last week at 407 GVTs.
In the Tamil Nadu market, Sun TV’s ratings dipped to 222,062 GVTs in week 6 compared with 230,581 a week ago. Vijay also saw its viewership drop to 66,863 GVTs against 75,900 the last week. Zee Tamil’s ratings dipped to 23,110 GVTs compared with 24,607 in week 5. Kalaignar TV also saw its viewership slip to 20,375 GVTs this week from 24,783 in week 5. Jaya TV recorded 13,431 GVTs against 16,991 a week ago. Mega TV’s ratings slipped to 5936 GVTs from 6097 the previous week. Captain TV recorded 3467 GVTs against 4115 in week 5. Raj TV was the only channel in the Tamil GEC market, which recorded an increase in viewership this week. The channel recorded 19,519 GVTs compared with 17,044 in week 5.
In the Maharashtra market, Zee Marathi’s ratings dropped to 145,084 GVTs this week from 188,980 a week ago. Star Pravah’s ratings increased to 56,548 GVTs this week compared with 54,815 a week ago. ETV Marathi also posted a rise in ratings. The GEC recorded 53,789 GVTs this week against 48,907 in week 5. Mi Marathi’s ratings slipped to 11,022 GVTs in week 6 from 12,214 the previous week.
In the Karnataka GEC space, Udaya’s ratings declined to 76,166 GVTs this week from 83,990 a week ago. ETV Kannada saw its ratings increase to 56,757 GVTs from 52,342 in week 5. Suvarna also witnessed a marginal rise in viewership. The channel recorded 44,297 GVTs against 44,211 a week ago. Zee Kannada’s ratings dropped to 33,022 GVTs this week from 34,817 in week 5. Kasthuri’s ratings increased this week to 8664 GVTs from 7251 the previous week.
In the Andhra Pradesh market, Gemini TV’s ratings increased to 104,070 GVTs in week 6 from 91,093 a week ago. Recently acquired by Star India, Maa TV saw a decline in its ratings. The channel recorded 95,127 GVTs compared with 106,835 in week 5. ETV Telugu, on the other hand, saw its ratings shoot up to 92,411 GVTs in week 6 from 87,848 a week ago. Zee Telugu’s ratings declined to 86,947 GVTs from 91,733 in week 5. Vissa saw its viewership rise to 241 GVTs this week from 138 the previous week.
In the Kerala market, Asianet’s ratings dropped to 56,477 GVTs this week from 61,112 in week 5. Surya TV also saw its viewership fall to 15,185 GVTs from 16,566 a week ago. Mazhavil Manorama’s ratings dropped to 14,305 GVTs this week from 17,307 in week 5. Asianet Plus also saw its ratings dip this week to 5004 GVTs from 5753 in week 5. Kairali’s ratings fell to 4487 GVTs this week from 6361 the previous week. Amrita’s ratings increased to 2660 GVTs from 1894 in week 5.
