BBC World and Tourism Ministry to host Spirit of Golf 2008 tournament

BBC World, BBC’s international 24-hour news and information channel, will be hosting the third Spirit of Golf tournament on January 19, 2008 in Delhi. The channel has joined hands with the Ministry of Tourism for this tournament. Participants include corporate and political leaders.

Jonathan Howlett, Director of Advertising Sales, BBC Worldwide, said, “BBC World is proud to host the Spirit of Golf 2008 event for the third consecutive year. Surveys show that BBC World viewers are even more interested in golf than viewers of sports channels, so it is fitting that we should be involved with this wonderful event for another year.”

Leena Nandan, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Tourism, said, “We are delighted to partner with BBC World’s Spirit of Golf 2008. Golf infrastructure and facilities in India are among the finest in the world and we hope that initiatives like this will help us make golf tourism an attractive option for people across the globe.”

The prize sponsors for Spirit of Golf 2008 include Sri Lankan Airlines, ITC Welcome Group, Samsung Mobile, Visit Britain, The Mayfair, Celtic Manor Ryder Cup and ACP Rail. The event is being managed by Tiger Sports Marketing.
